Sun 28th Feb - Bet for today

We reach the end of the month today; a full results update for the month will follow this evening...

4.55 Kempton

PEGASUS AGAIN has been in very consistent form over a mile on polytrack in recent months and ran credibly last time out when second. Jockey Joe Fanning is in excellent form this season and he looks capable of justifying favourtism today.

Suggested bet: 11/8 Bet 365, 1.5 pt win

Saturday 27 February 2010

Sat 27th Feb - Bet for today

3.15 Lingfield

GLAMOROUS SPIRIT went close last time out at Kempton having set another strong pace from the front, and it is only a matter of time until Ron Harris' flying filly manages to cling on and bag a long overdue win.

Suggested bet: 9/2 Stan James, 1 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds).

Thursday 25 February 2010

Fri 26th Feb - Bet for tomorrow

5.40 Wolverhampton

BILLY RED is thriving at present and may be up to defying his latest rise in the handicap over a course and distance over which he is proven.

Suggested bet: 7/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds).

Thur 25th Feb - Bet for today

4.25 Meydan

RAIHANA
had several of these rivals behind in the UAE 100 Guineas last time out but the way the race was run counted against her. She reopposes the 6/4 Godolphin favourite Siyaadah off identical terms but has every chance of reversing the form in this smaller field.

Suggested bet 4/1 Bet 365, 1 pt win.

Note: UAE bets cannot be proofed to Racing Index as only UK and Ire meetings are covered.

Ante-Post bets for the Cheltenham Festival

All selections so far have been on the all-weather but even flat fans can't help but have their head turned to the National Hunt scene for the climax of the season, the Cheltenham festival. These are my advised ante-post selections for the week.

Day 1: Arkle

CAPTAIN CEE BEE
- looked all over the winner when stumbling at the last and gifting the race to Sizing Europe at Leopardstown, but has since bounce back with a convincing win at Naas and a worthy favourite. 7/2 Bet 365, 0.5 pt win

Day 2: RSA

DIAMOND HARRY
- has won nine of his eleven career starts and unbeaten in two over fences. Open to more improvement and has a good record at the track when running over hurdles previously. 15/2 William Hill, 0.25 pt win

Day 3: Ryanair

BARBERS SHOP
- travelled really well for some way in the Gold Cup last year but failed to see out the trip, also the case in the Hennessy. Fair third in the King George and dropped back in trip may gain an overdue success at the highest level. 6/1 Ladbrokes, 0.75 pt win

Day 4: Triumph

ADVISOR
- has won both starts over hurdles and held in high regard by his trainer, Paul Nicholls. The race he won last time out was the same hurdle won by last years Triumph winner, Zaynar. 16/1 SJ, 0.25 pt EW (3 places, 1/4 odds)

Day 4: Gold Cup (w/o big two)

TRICKY TRICKSTER
- ran a cracker in the Aon to mug Niche Market after Denman had fallen. Has proven his stamina having won the National Hunt Cup over four miles at last years festival and should be staying on when others have raised the white flag. 10/1 Sporting Bet, 0.75 pt win/0.5 pt place (3 places, 1/4 odds).

wed 24th feb - bet for today

7.00 Kempton

SUTTON VENY
chases the hat trick, has looked progressive of late and could dominate this small field today.

Suggested bet: 6/4 Betfred, 1.25 pt win.

Monday 22 February 2010

Tue 23rd Feb - Bet for tomorrow

3.40 Lingfield

RED SOMERSET
travelled really strongly last time out and although the handicapper has inevitably raised him in the weights he is still potentially well in on the pick of his old form. He acts over this course and distance and can go well.

Suggested bet: 9/2 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds)

All bets proofed to Racing Index.

Mon 22nd Feb - Bet for Today

3.30 Lingfield

PRINCE OF THEBES
looks overpriced with every possibility he could dominate this small field. He acts at the track and should be effective over this shorter trip.

Suggested bet: 11/2 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (2 places, 1/4 odds).

Saturday 20 February 2010

Sat 20th Feb - Further bet for today

5.05 Lingfield

Just the four runners contest this sprint handicap over the minimum distance and most have doubts hanging over them. LE TOREADOR may be the one to be on in the belief he can dominate this small field, despite his small absence. He had been kept on the go since April but should be a bit fresher for the break.

Suggested bet: Le Toreador 6/4 Bet 365, 0.75 pt

Sat 20th Feb - Bet for today

2.50 Lingfield

INDIAN SKIPPER has been running much better than his bare form suggests and on this return to polytrack and step up in trip should go well under Jimmy Quinn, despite racing from 2 lb out of the weights. At the price, this course and distance winner looks a tad overpriced.

Suggested bet: 25/1 William Hill, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/4 odds).

Friday 19 February 2010

Fri 19th Feb - Bet for today

3.35 Lingfield

WHISKEY JUNCTION has dropped to an attractive mark and may be worth chancing on his comeback here now reunited with Seb Sanders. Many of these rivals struggle in this grade, but not Mick Quinn's gelding who scored off this mark at Bath in the summer.

Suggested bet: 5/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (2 places, 1/4 odds).

Wednesday 17 February 2010

Wed 17th Feb - Bet for today

6.10 Kempton

GLAMOROUS SPIRIT
has been racing at blistering speed in her last two races, breaking the course record here for the last two weeks running. If she can learn to keep a little bit more in reserve for the finish tonight there is every chance she can dominate this small field.

Suggested bet: 3/1 Paddypower, 1 pt win

Tuesday 16 February 2010

Tue 16th Feb - Lay bet for today

3.30 Southwell

Trans Sonic - LAY

The horse won very easily last time out and is turned out under a penalty today but I feel that the winning margin flattered him last time when he was gifted an easy lead. Things could prove tougher today, up in grade, and he is taken on.

Suggested bet - lay to fixed 1 pt stake at Betfair SP

Tue 16th Feb - Further Bet for today

4.00 Southwell

The 11/2 on offer for BEL CANTOR seems generous in my opinion and a further 0.5 pt EW (2 places, 1/4 odds) at 11/2 with Stan James is advised.

All bets proofed to Racing Index.

Tue 16th Feb - Bet for today

3.30 Southwell

McCONNELL
is a triple course and distance winner and this race looks the weakest he has contested to date for his new yard, having been claimed from Gary Moore in December. He was a good second to Salerosa off a 1 lb higher mark in a handicap on his run previous to that and some of his more recent efforts can be forgiven as he has been competiting at a higher, unrealistic grade.

Suggested bet: 14/1 Stan James, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds).

4.00 Southwell

BEL CANTOR ran a monster of a race from out of the handicap here two runs ago and bumped into an inform hat-trick seeking rival in Harlech Castle on his last run. However, most of this field today look handicapped to their limits and with an extra furlong to contend with, Bill Ratcliffe's horse is taken to score.

Suggested bet: 11/2 Stan James, 0.5 pt EW (2 places, 1/4 odds).

Monday 15 February 2010

Mon 15th Feb - Bet for today

3.30 Plumpton

GEE DEE NEN's third in the Lanzarote Hurdle looks rock solid form in the context of this race. Gary Moore's seven year old was running from out of the handicap up against classier opponents that day, but today is one of the top-weights dropped in grade. The Kempton form has been boosted by the second Duc de Regniere, who won next time out, and the fourth, Triggerman, who ran a cracker at Newbury on Saturday. Racing from within the handicap proper today he looks sure to go well.

Suggested bet: 4/1 Betfred (bog), 1.5 pt win

Saturday 13 February 2010

Sun 14th Feb - Bet for tomorrow

3.45 Kempton

SPINNING
has a good strike rate on the all-weather and although all six of his wins in this sphere have come at Wolverhampton he ran well over this course and distance last time out. In a weak race for the grade he may have chances for a yard going well.

Suggested bet: 6/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds)

Sat 13th Feb - Bets for today

2.25 Lingfield

BILLY RED
- gutsy front runner that may be able to dominate the field after paying for forcing a strong pace last time out

Suggested bet: 8/1 bet 365, 0.75 pt EW

3.00 Lingfield

BAYLINI
- arrives in form, acts at this track and for Hayley Turner and dealt only modest rise for last win.

Suggested bet 15/2 Hills, 1.25 pt EW

Thursday 11 February 2010

Fri 12th Feb - Back and Lay Bets for Tomorrow

6.45 Wolverhampton

This looks a super handicap for a Friday evening and although the favourite Bajan Tryst bolted up when last seen, he steps up in grade here and may not get his own way out infront. With Thebes likely to pester him for the lead he looks worth laying and for back purposes, Imprimis Tagula, Tourist and FLOWING CAPE make up the shortlist. The first named has enjoyed a profitable winter but this jockey booking suggests connections feel she needs some help from the assesor and although Tourist is prolific over this trip and in the form of his life, his price looks rather skinny in a contest this hot. As a result, Flowing Cape gets the nod. His last run is best ignored as he simply doesnt act on fibresand but he returns to polytrack here on a good mark, looking competitive if his form from last year is considered.

Suggested bets: back Flowing Cape 9/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW

Lay: Bajan Tryst to fixed stake of 1 pt at Betfair SP

Wednesday 10 February 2010

Thur 11th Feb - Bet for tomorrow - Alnwick

Wednesday's bet Desert Vision ran a really strong race at Kempton and looked like he may storm through to win when making headway inside the final furlong. He was headed close home by the well-backed King Olav and Mister Green but ran a very good race nonetheless, pulling well clear of the remainder.

7.30 Kempton (Thursday)

ALNWICK signed off the turf season with a credible third at Newmarket and is allowed to raced off a lower mark on the all-weather. Proven over course and distance he has gone well fresh in the past so his 104-day break can be overlooked at the available price.

Suggested bet: 10/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds)

All bets proofed to Racing Index

Wed 10th Feb - Bet for today - Desert Vision

6.40 Kempton

DESERT VISION has been a revelation since returning to the all-weather in November and since being fitted with a tongue tie/visor combination. He has been raised in the weights for his last time out second to Trachonitis but the front two pulled well clear of the field and the rise looks warranted.

Suggested bet: 10/1 Betfred, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/4 odds).

All bets proofed to Racing Index.
